| The
big news for the Jansen area in 2010 is the announcement that
BHP Billiton will be proceeding with work at their Jansen
Project, an underground potash mine to be located north of
Jansen.
According to their website, newsletters and local public
meetings, work will begin in the spring of 2010 with four
drilling rigs working in the area of the mine shafts.
This
project is expected to be a big economic boom for the area,
employing hundreds of people in the construction stage and
hundreds of people for the long term operating stage.
Quoting from one of BHP's newsletters, " Based on current
production estimates, at full capacity, the Jansen project will
be the largest potash mine in the world. "
As
the project continues, this website will be updated with a
special section to list the various contractors who want to
advertise that they are available and perhaps a special section
to advertise for workers needed too.
Please contact the webmaster
to place your name in the directory.
