Quill Lake History Page
Quill Lake was established in about 1904 when the Canadian National Railway was built into the area. There was a post office in the area named Quill Lake run by R.A. Gordon and the community became known as Quill Lake. The Village of Quill Lake was formed in 1906.
The Quill Lakes, large lakes to the south of the community, got their name from the goose and crane feathers (quills) which were gathered and shipped to Europe to make pens.
Today, St. Michaels Anglican Church is the oldest existing building in Quill Lake. It was named a Municipal Heritage Property in 2000.
